The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers aka icann will be taking applications for new tld registrations some time next year apparantly. Cities and big corporations will likely be among the first to be issued the domains.
But why such a high price tag?
Kurt Pritz the senior vice president of icann says that the high price tag is because that’s what it will cost to issue these domains because of the fact that you need to be accepted before they will issue you the domain.
Each application will be reviewed by a team of people before they will issue a domain. By the sounds of it from http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-13835997 there’s around 50 long questions on the application form so this isn’t going to be your quick domain name registration and each application could take weeks or months to review.
I foresee a lot of problems occurring but I also think we have a few exciting years ahead of us in the domain industry and I can’t wait to see what happens.

The YouTube Crackdown! Will You Be Effected?
The YouTube Crackdown! It has just surfaced that Google are mass suspending YouTube accounts without any form of warning.
Guilty and innocent YouTube account holders are waking up to see their accounts terminated and in typical Google fashion getting no concrete explanation as to why..
One high profile YouTube account holder that was banned is Darren Rowse of ProBlogger.net.
He was banned from YouTube because he had a video with “make money” in the title and a video about SEO. However after he protested and contacted them his account was reinstated 12 hours later.. You can check Darren’s post about this here-
You will know if someone has been banned from this crackdown because you’ll see a message that says “This video has been removed as a violation of YouTube’s policy against spam, scams, and commercially deceptive content.”
Now personally I totally agree with this policy, YouTube is getting overrun by spam, scams and people trying to sell you something but I don’t agree with the way they just decide to ban everyone and then just see what happens.
This is what it seems YouTube are cracking down on..
- Spam videos that have no content but tell you to visit a website.
- Those crappy talking robots that nobody wants to listen to. (I heard somebody say on the Warrior Forum that YouTube now have technology that can detect this!)
- Stolen videos. Hey if it’s not your video you shouldn’t be posting it..
- General spam videos trying to sell stuff.
- Scam videos trying to scam people.
- Videos trying to sell products that make deceptive claims.
- Videos on making money.
- Videos on gaming Google or YouTube such as seo tricks etc.
- Videos on MLM or network marketing.
I think you get the picture. If it’s scammy or spammy then it’s not allowed on YouTube.
So will you be effected by this YouTube crackdown?
If you care about your YouTube account and you’ve got any videos up that fall into the criteria I’ve listed above then you should take those videos down immedietely otherwise a ban is coming your way.
The good ol’ days where you could put up somebody else’s video on YouTube and slap an affiliate link on it are quickly dying..
YouTube and it’s visitors (including me and you) want videos with real helpful content. We don’t want to watch spam or hear a robot read out an article so I believe that the people who focus on putting out quality helpful videos are the people that will thrive on YouTube.

Is It Worth Adding A Google Plus 1 Button To Your Website? My Little Test..
Hey, so as you can see I’ve just added the Google Plus 1 button to affiliatespin.com and I’ve also added it to a few other websites of mine.
To be honest I wasn’t going to add it because I thought it would just be unnecessary clutter on my site but I just had to do it because I wanted to see what effect it had on my SEO rankings.
Now I personally believe that Google wouldn’t be so stupid as to allow the Google Plus 1 button to effect it’s rankings because of the fact that it’s so easy to abuse. But I decided to do a little experiment anyway..
I have a little affiliate marketing website in the health niche that’s on an exact match domain. Now the keyword is not very competitive and before I added the button the website was flittering from position 1 back to position 5 and back again.
So I decided to add the Google Plus 1 button and send 30 “Plus 1′s” it’s way that I bought from Fiverr.
Now on Google.co.uk the website has stuck firmly in position 1 for the past 3 days and on Google.com it has been in position 2.
So my rankings have risen but whether that is solely from adding the Google Plus 1 button is another matter because I’ve also been building backlinks to the site which would make a difference.
Google Plus 1 is something I am definitely going to test more.
My next test is to buy a new domain, add some content and then leave it for a week to settle and then add the Google Plus 1 button. That way I’ll be sure that if there is a ranking increase it’ll be because of the Google Plus 1 button.
So for now it seems that there could be possible SEO benefits but I’m still sceptical because I don’t think Google would allow their serps to be abused so easily. What do you think?

This will bring back a list of websites in your niche that have been updated with new content in the past week! Then I’ll spend some time reading through the posts to see what other people are writing about.
This is a great way to get some fresh content ideas!
Fresh Content Ideas Tip 2
Another thing you can do if you’re stuck for ideas on what to write about is check on the most visited forums in your niche. Pretty much every niche has forums in it where people go to talk. This is great because these are the people you want to visit your website so if you can see what they are talking about then this will help to spur all sorts of fresh content ideas.
So to sum up, if you’re in need of fresh content ideas then the 2 best places to check are Google blog search for the most recent updated blogs in your niche and the most popular forums in your niche where your target market hang out.
